What is a 21st Century Christian?

Many people have asked, 'What is a 21st Century Christian?' While a full essay is to come I have jotted down a few notes to sum what I call the 21st Century Christian.

The greatest thing in your life is your relationship with Jesus Christ. You’re not denominational minded. You don’t believe in religion but in a relationship. You adhere to the bylaws of your church only if they are Scripturally based.

You know without question God has created you for a purpose; He has given you a gift. You are a unique individual, created for such a time as this and do everything you can to fulfill the calling God has placed on your life.

Bible reading is a part of your everyday life. It doesn’t matter which version for your Bible app has them all. You also read books of inspiration by noted contemporary and historic Christian authors.

Prayer is an integral part of your life along with praise and worship. Love is the answer. You’re selfish in your relationship with Jesus but selfless to your fellow man/woman. To sum; you understand everything you do must exhibit the love of God. When you fall short of this, you understand God doesn’t condemn you. God’s forgiveness and grace are in your DNA.

You love your church but have no reservations about visiting others and attending Christian conventions.

You dress the way you want in church and outside.

The opposite

You attend church (denominational or non) on a regular basis and are an active member but…

You don’t read the Bible.

You don’t pray.

No matter how great the sermon, you don’t apply it to your life.

Nothing in you has changed since your time in church.

You are judgmental.

Everyone in your church is the same color as you.

You feel you have to attend church every Sunday and God is mad at you when you don’t. The same is true for services held during the week.

You spend a year planning an Annual Day.
