Your Black (White) Life Matters

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:6

Two more murders of unarmed African- American males by police officers. More postings of outrage from some communities, more postings of bigotry from others. The time for all of this to stop is NOW. While we have no control of bigoted minded officers that see Black and have to start shooting, we Christians have a weapon to combat this. "Our weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds." 2 Corinth 10:4 The greatest weapon we have is prayer. But not a prayer of, “Oh God, why is this happening?” or “God please make it stop.” But a prayer of “What can I do to make it stop?” Luke 10:19 states, “I have given you the authority to….overcome all the power of the enemy.” It’s time to use that power! Don’t know how? Pray to God for wisdom. Say to God, “I am sick and tired of these shootings, what can I do to make them stop?” Sermons and books are filled with using the power of God to overcome sickness, poverty, addiction, all the adversities of life. Bigotry is just another cancer in our society and we have the power to overcome it. ‘Yeah, but Steve, this is the way it’s always been. It’s a fight against Black and White and we all know who wins in that war. Nothing has changed in over two hundred years!’ Well continue to read James 1. “But when you ask you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” Believe this situation can be rectified; believe YOU are that instrument of change. The power and love of God working through you is the only answer. So pray then do what He says. Your life, not a posting starting SMH, but your life led by Godly wisdom, is the change we need.
